Strategies for cancer therapy
～targeting cancer stem cells～
Cancer cells express specific antigens which are not found in normal cells. The antigens are usually expressed at embryonic stage and disappered during developping. For example CEA(Caricoma Embrionic Antigens) are produced in many kinds of cancers and used for tumor marker. Cell has a life span and it originates from stem cell. Every tissue has the stem cell and it is considered that cancer tissue also has stem cell(csc). The characteristics of cscs have slow growing rate, self-renewal, pumping ability of anti-cancer drugs and so on. We target not only frequently found cancer antigens bu also specific antigens of cscs, such as ALDH and others.
Other therapeutics. We dopt following therapeutics.
Dendritic cell (DC) vaccination by extra-cellar vessicle exvivo is performed.
AC-ACT(Autologous Cancer Antigen-pulsed Adoptive Immune Ensemble cell Therapy): Here we vaccinate DC with various cancer antigens and co-culture with other ensamble immune cells including NKT cells.
